Mr. Victor Surville De Lan, Jr., 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, March 29, 2017, at Commonwealth Assisted Living Facility in Hillsville, VA. Mr. De Lan was born September 24, 1930, in New York, NY, one of two sons born to the late Victor Surville De Lan, Sr. and Penelope Hale De Lan. Victor served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict era. He worked at McCormick Spices for many years and later owned and operated Holly Flies in Mount Holly Springs, PA. He is survived by his wife, Esther Goedel De Lan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Peter Bergus and Jennifer and Jim Dunlap; his grandchildren, Bryan and Hannah Laurenson, Stephen Laurenson, Alexandra and Dayne Shannon, and Nicholas Rouse; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia Laurenson and Audrey Laurenson. In addition to his parents, Mr. De Lan was preceded in death by a brother, Norman De Lan. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 3, 2017, at 2:00 PM at The Peoples Church Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Vaught officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 until 5:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
