Viola McBride Edwards

Mrs. Viola McBride Edwards, 79, of 120 Little Stream Trail, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, December 28, 2007, at Universal Health Care in King. Mrs. Edwards was born March 21, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Drew Harvey "Hub" and Lockie Eva Collins McBride. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Jimmie Bobbitt and Patsy and James Odum, all of Mount Airy, and Emma Jean and Jody Hutchens of King; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Floyd and Billie Jo Edwards, Cecil Edwards, Brent Edwards and June, Clay and Libby Edwards, and Ivan and Gena Edwards, all of Mount Airy; two special daughters-in-law, Linda Edwards and Bonnie Edwards, both of Mount Airy; thirty-nine grandchildren; forty-eight great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Melvin Snow of Ararat, VA; and a special brother-in-law, the Rev. Willis Pell of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse James Edwards; two sons, Harvey Jess Edwards and Raleigh James Edwards; three grandchildren, Bobby Ray Felts, Blake McKenzie Edwards, and Harvey Lee Edwards; and two sisters, Martha McBride Willard Hosey and Fenten McBride Pell. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 31, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Roby Wilcox, and burial will follow in the McBride Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, and other times at 1427 Edgewood Drive (near Wal-Mart), Mount Airy.
