Violet Irene Atkins Odell

Mrs. Violet Irene Fulk Atkins Odell, age 97, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Baptist Hospital.  Mrs. Odell was born in Surry County on December 29, 1921, to Charlie and Amelia Marion Fulk.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.  Surviving are daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley and Gilmer Dollarhite, and Rita Nichols; sons and daughters-in-law, Daryll and Betty Atkins, C. W. and Debbie Atkins, Larry and Carol Atkins, Lonnie and Rita Atkins; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Rachel Riggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Odell was preceded in death by her first husband, Clandis Atkins, her second husband, Bill Odell; a son, Bruce Atkins; a granddaughter, Tilda Gay Atkins; sisters Myrtle Noonkester, Thelma Johnson, Mary Ruth McCormick, and Ruby York; and a brother Hal Fulk.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Edwards, Rev. Butch Holder, and Rev. James Collins.  Burial will follow in Turkey Ford Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00.
