Violet M. Whitaker

Miss Violet M. Whitaker, 64, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, August 5, 2012, at Alleghany Health Care in Sparta. Miss Whitaker was born August 3, 1948, in Surry County, to Paul Folger Whitaker and the late Pansy Arizona Coe Whitaker. She is survived by her father, Paul Folger Whitaker of Winston-Salem; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Burton Amey and Shirley and Ronald Rogers, all of Mount Airy; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Paul David and Tammy Whitaker of Lexington and Jack Junior Whitaker of Winston-Salem. In addition to her mother, Miss Whitaker was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph R. Whitaker. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. and the Rev. Eugene Brinkley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time to leave for the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
