Virgil V. "Buck" Marshall

Mr. Virgil V. "Buck" Marshall, 70, of 1026 Doe Run Road, Ararat, VA, passed away Wednesday morning, December 10, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Marshall was born February 27, 1938, in Patrick County, VA, son of the late Cannie Alexander and Lottie Ann Puckett Marshall. He retired from Pine State Knitwear and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Patty Sawyers Marshall of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Ronald Moser of Jonesville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Opie Marshall and Dwayne and Patricia Marshall, all of Ararat, VA; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley Marshall Hill of Winston-Salem, Verlie and Richard Bishop of Ararat, VA, and Avis Yvonne and Lance Hawks of Hillsville, VA; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Steve "Pete" and Sharon Marshall of Ararat, VA, and Kay Marshall of Lucas, KS; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Doe Run Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Terry Vaughan, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Doe Run Baptist Church.
