Virginia Lou Baker

Mrs. Virginia Lou Boles Baker, 86, of Pilot Mountain passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018.  Mrs. Baker was born in Surry County on February 13, 1932 to Romie Franklin Boles and Emma Jane Jackson Boles.  Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Romie “Frank” and Cassie Boles; two sisters-in-laws, Nellie Boles and Louise Boles; brother-in-law, Charlie Baker; 19 nieces and nephews; 40 great nieces and nephews.  Although Virginia “Giner” never had children of her own, she was a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews.  Along with her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Pete” Baker, and by six brothers, Leonard, Jay, Tommy, Melvin, Jessie, and Robert Boles.  Virginia had many talents and loved to share her talents with others.  She was an excellent cook who loved having her family over to share her meals.  She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making porcelain dolls, and making clothes for the dolls during her sewing classed at SCC.  Before Pete’s passing, she and  her husband enjoyed many years of fishing at the beach, attending blue grass and old time music events, and going to flea markets.  She touched a number of lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, December 21, 2018, at Simmons Grove Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain with the Rev. Dale Wallace officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the funeral begins at 2:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
