Virginia Gladys Semones Goad

Mrs. Virginia Gladys Semones Goad, age 87 of Mount Airy, passed away early Monday morning July 22, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born May 12, 1937, in Carroll County to the late Paul James Semones and Lula Mae Midkiff Semones. Mrs. Goad was a longtime member of Flippin Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from Sara Lee after 42 years of service. She loved gardening and was a wonderful cook. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and two sons-in-law, Linda and CL Ramey, and Mike Goins; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald Goad, James and Angela Goad, and Jerry and Linda Goad; twelve grandchildren, Carissa and TJ Banks, Michele and Darren McGlamery, Mandy and Tim Sawyers, Adrian and Tiffany Ramey, Jessica and Kenny Mosley, Brandy Goins and special friend Kevin Johnson, Michael Goins, Candus and Bryan Gibbs, Joshua Ramey and fiancé Marissa Bevins, Tanner Goad, Levi Horton, and Jammie and Keith Hawks; twenty-three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Esther Jackson and Mildred Jones; and several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goad was preceded in death by her husband, Louis James Goad; daughter, Betty Lou Goad Goins; one granddaughter Crystal Goins, two great granddaughters, Ashleigh Gibbs and Brianna Gibbs; three sisters, June Kathleen Semones Shinault, Elizabeth Lee Semones Lawson, and Bertha Mae Semones Littell; and by her brother, Lewis Monroe Semones. Graveside services will be held Wednesday July 24, 2024, at 11:00am at Skyline Memorial Gardens with Rev. Joe Pyles officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. The Goad family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all of the love and care given to Mrs. Goad and the family.
