Virginia "Jenny" Leigh Gwyn

Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” Leigh Stewart Gwyn, 86, of Mt. Airy departed this life for her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.  She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Surry County on May 20, 1934 to the late Cleo and Ada Newgent Stewart.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.  Jenny was a blessing to her family and to the many cherished friends she leaves behind.  Mrs. Gwyn was a faithful member and servant of Flat Rock Baptist Church.  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Gwyn and Vaughn Ruth, Laura and Lee Currier, Julie and Scott Barwick; sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Pam Gwyn, Alan and Terrie Gwyn; grandchildren and spouses, Neil and Jodi Fleming, Wendy and Scottie Payne, Erin Currier, Corbin Barwick, Courtney Barwick, Whittney and Matt Harris, Lindsay and Ian Tipping, Joshua and Samantha Gwyn, Matthew and Taylor Gwyn, Joshua McMillion, Jordan McMillion; great-grandchildren, Kylie Fleming, Mackenzie Fleming, Jax Payne, Aaron Payne, Avery Payne, Nolan Harris, Walt Harris, Zaddock Arnder, Charlie Tipping, Emma Gwyn, and Amalia Gwyn.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gwyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Rayford “Ray” Gwyn; a grandson, Blake Currier; a sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Harold Boles.  A graveside service will be held Monday, January 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Dr. Jon Cawley officiating.  There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church-WMU, P.O. Box 587, Mt.
