Virginia Mitchell

Mrs. Virginia Mabelline McMillian Mitchell, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center due to complications from Covid-19.  Mrs. Mitchell was born in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Carl Guy and Lora Thomas McMillian. Mabelline was a great believer in God and the power of positive faith in life.  She had the ability to quickly become the best friend to all who met her every day, and all felt a little better by just having that encounter.  Her career included being the associate publisher for the Winston-Salem Magazine; executive marketer for Estee Lauder; and Luxury Broker and Vice-president for Mitchell Prime Properties.  Mabelline was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to so many people.  She will be deeply missed by all that were blessed to knew her including her beloved Chinese Crested dog, Paris. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 55 years, John B. Mitchell; one son, John-Mark M. Mitchell; and two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Madge McMillian Nichols and husband Charlie, and Margret McMillian Wall and husband Bobby.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by two brothers, Garson McMillian and Charles McMillian.  A private graveside service will be held at their family plot in Virginia.  A Celebration of Life will be announced later this year.  A special Thanks to Novant Oncologist, Dr Garrett Sherwood and team, for their superior support in helping Mabelline defeat Cancer.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Derrick L. Davis Regional Cancer Center.  Moody Funeral Services of Mount Airy is serving the family.
