Virginia Anne Broyhill Patterson

Mrs. Virginia Anne Broyhill Patterson, 81, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born January 29, 1929, in Wilkes County, to the late Dewey and Janie Lowe Broyhill. Mrs. Patterson was retired from the Surry County School System, where she taught high school math, and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was a dedicated member of Dobson First Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 58 years, Fred Patterson of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Jan Patterson of Taylors, SC, and Mark and Marla Patterson of Shelby; five grandchildren, Hannah Patterson, Jeremy Patterson, Benjamin Patterson, Ryan Bralley, and Alexis Patterson; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Daisuke Patterson and Mason Bralley; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mildred Ashley of Yadkinville, Frances and Gene Bryson of Lenoir, and Linda Broyhill of Yadkinville; and three brothers and a sister-in-law, Walter Broyhill of North Wilkesboro, L.C. and Carol Broyhill of Moravian Falls, and Herbert and Jane Broyhill of Hickory. The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Dobson First Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Allred officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiddenite. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their loving, compassionate care.
