Mrs. Virginia Ann "Jenny" Lester Raby, 75, of Mount Airy went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday August 23, 2010 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Mercer County, West Virginia on June 12, 1935 to the late Matthew William and Martilda Knuckles Lester. Mrs. Raby was a retired knitter from Kentucky Derby Hosiery after 23 years of service and a faithful member of Dobson Church of God. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and J.P. Wagers of Corinth Kentucky and Terry and Robert Easter of Siloam; three sons, Jerry Raby, Michael Raby and Garrett Raby all of Mount airy; a daughter-in-law, Judy Raby Cook also of Mount Airy; twelve grandchildren, Paula Raby, Willis Dalton, Howard Dalton, Daniel Dalton. Jim Bob Dalton, Heather Easter, Keason Carter, Jason Allen Raby, Jason William Raby, Matthew Raby, Ruby Marker and Shelby Mason; ten great-grandchildren, Sean Scott, Benjamin Scott, Faith Dalton, Christopher Dalton, Chase and Emily Dalton, Sarah and Bethany Raby, Trenton Dalton, Peyton Easter and an expectant great-grandchild; seven sisters, Virgie Sloan, Oma Lambert, Betty Lester, Mildred Miller, Brenda Lawson, Linda Thomas and Sharon Lester; five brothers, Guy Lester, Douglas Lester, Larry Lester, Gene Lester and Roger Lester; several nieces and nephews; many special friends including Tony Eadie, Tommy Casey and Dale and Linda Montgomery. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Raby was preceded in death by three sons, Larry Raby, Bobby Raby and Darrell Raby; two sisters, Stella King and Nora Melko and a brother, Paul Lester. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday August 26, 2010 at Dobson Church of God by Rev. Homer Laudermilk with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 6 to 9 pm where her body will remain for the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 954 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for all the loving, compassionate care shown them. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Raby family.
