Virginia Ruth Montgomery Thompson

Mrs. Virginia Ruth Montgomery Thompson, 85, of Ararat, VA, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. Mrs. Thompson was born February 2, 1923, in Patrick County, VA, to Claude Wilson and Rebecca Bowman Montgomery. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a true and wonderful friend to all who knew her. Surviving are her devoted husband, Turner Thompson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Turner and Linda Thompson of Ararat, VA; two grandchildren, Aimee Thompson of Ararat, VA, and 2ND Lieutenant Adam Thompson of Fort Sill, Lawton, OK; a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Joe Pell of Walkertown; and a brother and three sisters-in-law, Gates and Geraldine Montgomery and Delsie Montgomery, all of Ararat, VA, and Frances Montgomery of Magnolia. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Griffith and Millie Montgomery; and two brothers, Robert Montgomery and Claude Montgomery. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
