Mrs. Virginia Wheatley White, 94, of 854 Old Creed Road, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday evening, November 1, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. White was born September 17, 1918, in Rockingham County, the oldest of six children born to the late Coleman McKinley and Nora Hicks Wheatley. Virginia retired as an inspector from Mount Airy Furniture Factory and was a member of Dover Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Teddy Williams of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Estelle White of Mount Airy; six grandchildren and their spouses, Janet White Stewart, Jay and Doris White, Barret and Christy Williams, and Jordan and Hope Williams, all of Mount Airy, Aprile and Chris Thompson of Lexington, and John David and Jordan Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Amos Moore of Wentworth, Arlene Wheatley of Eden, Eardine White of Mount Airy, and Johnny and Ola Mae White of Dobson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bishop White; three sisters, Daphne Moore, Violet Moore, and Lucy Johnson; and two brothers, Coleman McKinley Wheatley, Jr. and Carl Wheatley. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 4, 2012, at 3:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeremy Morton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church, and other times at the home of J.C. and Estelle White, 788 Old Creed Road, Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Moody Funeral Services is serving the White family.
