Vivian Ruth Martin Phillips

Mrs. Vivian Ruth Martin Phillips, age 93 of Mount Airy, passed at her home on Saturday morning August 10, 2024. She was born in Surry County on July 3, 1931, to the late Pate and Lillian Brown Martin. She was retired from Cross Creek after many years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Left to cherish her memory are her special adopted daughter and son, Lettie and Jimmy Heath of Mount Airy; adopted son and wife, Pastor Brent and Trudy Carrick; brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Annie Mae Martin of Mount Airy; very special niece and husband, Linda and Earnie Villa of Succaurra, NJ; special friends, Shelby Woodie and Sue McCreary; and several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Crawford Phillips; daughter, Rosalind Kay Phillips; sister, Barbara Inman; and by seven brothers, Troy Martin, Marvin Martin, Merlin Martin, Leroy Martin, Evan Martin, William Osler Martin, and Douglas Martin. Funeral services will be held Monday August 12, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Pastor Brent Carrick and Pastor Jonathan Casstevens officiating. A private burial will take place in the Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Moody’s one hour prior to the service. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by all their staff at Mountain Valley Hospice, especially Cindy, Lisa, Darien, Maria, April, Amy, and Jonathan.
