Vodia Mabel Rice

Ms. Vodia Goins Rice, 89, of Claudville, VA, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Sovah Health Hospital in Martinsville, VA.  She was born in Patrick County October 29, 1929 to the late Alexander Marion and Nina Pell Goins.  Ms. Rice retired from Spencer’s, and was a member of Mount Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church.  After leaving Spencer’s she worked as a CNA and was employed with Golden Living Nursing Center.  Ms. Rice will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan Pack and fiancé Steven Schiermeister; sons, Leslie Rice, and Stewart Rice and wife, Rita; grandchildren and spouses, Eric (Shae) Pack, Wesley  (Emily) Schiermiester, Jared Schiermester, Leslie Allen Rice, Michael Rice, Winter (Chris) Frazier, Christopher (Brittney) Rice, Jennifer Visalli, and Christina (Derek) Archer; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Rice was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Amelia Nicole Frazier; her sisters, Rada Davis, Zola Wilson, Parry Lewis and Amy Goins; brothers, Hubert, Roscoe and Carson Goins.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Rogers and Rev. Randy Edwards officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the service.  The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart and Sovah Health Hospital in Martinsville for the excellent care Ms. Rice received during her stay.   In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Blue Ridge Therapy Connection, P.O.
