Mr. Wade “Mousie” Cain, age 69 of Ararat Virginia, passed away on Thursday morning, August 10, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. Mr. Cain was born October 1, 1953, in Surry County to the late Bernie Lee and Mary Jo Smith Cain. Wade was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Surviving is his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Cain Rodgers and Kevin; three sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Daniel Cain and Ashley, Christopher “Bubs” Cain, Devin Scott; six grandchildren, Zachary Cain, Noah Cain, Kyley Cain, MacKenzie Cain, Allie Marshall, Kaylen Rodgers, Layken Rodgers, a sister Carolyn Cain Nester and Jeff Trenter; a special niece, Misty Horton; great nephew, Chase Cain; special friend, Amy Cain; and special dog, Jax. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cain was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dale Cain; a brother-in-law, Junior Nester; a great-nephew, Deavin Jessup; his paternal grandparents, John and Edna Cain; and his maternal grandparents, Lazarus and Mamie Chandler Smith. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery with Preacher Scotty Bullins and Reverend Arlis Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia. The body will lie-in-state, Monday, August 14, 2023, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 7:30 AM until time to leave for the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
