Mr. Wallace Coolidge Angel, 86, of King, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011, at Village Care of King. Mr. Angel was born February 25, 1925, in Surry County, to Jesse Thomas and Ethel Inez Sumner Angel. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Angel retired from the construction business and was also a real estate broker. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Pleasants Angel of King; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Cindy Angel of Raleigh and Greg and Kandy Angel of Brentwood, TN; a granddaughter, Emily Austin Angel; two sisters, Pauline Matthews and Mary Ruth Angel, both of Pilot Mountain; and a brother and two sisters-in-law, Douglas and Judy Angel of Mount Airy and Selma Angel of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Angel was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Draughn Angel; a sister, Georgia Bunn; and two brothers, Jay Angel and Edward Angel. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of King, with the Rev. Ken Evans and the Rev. Steve Dowd officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stokes County, 3169 NC 8 Highway, Suite 204, Walnut Cove 27052. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the exceptional staff of Priddy Manor and Village Care of King and to Dr. Samuel Newsome for the wonderful care given to Mr. Angel.
