Mr. Wallace Rabon Goings, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Golden Living Center. Mr. Goings was born November 21, 1919, in Surry County, to Emmett and Betty Mayes Goings. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired farmer and retired from Proctor-Silex. Mr. Goings also loved fox hunting while his health permitted. Surviving are his loving wife, Bessie Marion Goings of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jack and Nancy Goings of Winston-Salem and Jerry Goings of Mount Airy; three grandsons, Jack Goings, Jr., Jeremiah Goings, and Sheldon Goings; a special sister-in-law, Vera Goings; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Goings was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Clifton, Dorothy Carson, and Dora Lowe; and five brothers, Elmer, Henley, Boyd, Grady, and Roland Goings. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Joe Atkins and Elder Woody Edwards. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
