Wallace Gray "Wally" Johnson

Mr. Wallace Gray "Wally" Johnson age 68 of Lowgap, widower of Helen Jeanette Hawks Johnson, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 20, 2008. Mr. Johnson was born in Surry County on September 12, 1939 son of the late Johnny Fred Johnson and Foye Goodson Johnson. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Steve Ortiz of Mount Airy; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Suzette Glasco of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Cole Glasco and Sarah Glasco; one sister and brother-in-law, Verba Mae and Bill Lowe of Lowgap; two brothers and sister-in-law, Donnie Johnson of Lowgap and Woodie and Eula Johnson of Siloam; several nieces and nephews; numerous friends and his mother-in-law, Naomi Hawks of Lowgap. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church by Rev. Bill Spurlin and Rev. Joe Atkins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 123. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
