Walter Odell Belcher

Mr. Walter Odell Belcher, 83, of Meadows of Dan, VA, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at his home.  He was born February 16, 1939, in Floyd County to the late Wesley Belcher and Lelia Wood Belcher.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry Knowles; and two brothers Vernon Belcher and Kenneth Belcher; two sisters-in-law, Eulah Belcher, and Hilda Belcher.

Mr. Belcher served in the United States Army and retired in May 1995 from Virginia Department of Transportation.  He attended Dillons Chapel in Willis, VA.  He loved playing the guitar and singing for the Lord.

Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Ellen Belcher of the home; one son, Wayne Belcher (Dana) of Meadows of Dan, VA; one daughter, Darlene Knowles (Kenneth) of Meadows of Dan, VA; two step-sons, Troy Wood (Tammy), and Norman Wood (Ann), both of Meadows of Dan, VA; three Grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grand-children; twelve step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Dale Belcher officiating.  Burial will follow in the Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 E.
