Walter Gustavo

Mr. Walter Gustavo, 95, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at his home. He was born December 6, 1914, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Mike and Fannie Gustavo. He retired as a machinist for American Can Company and was a member of Saint Andrews Lutheran Church. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II as a glider pilot. Mr. Gustavo is survived by several grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gustavo was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Mildred Suchane Gustavo; a son, Arthur Gustavo; two brothers, Frank Gustavo and Steve Gustavo. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Saint Andrews Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dale Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Saint Andrews Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Andrews Lutheran Church, 1406 Fancy Gap Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
