Walter Elliot Harris

        Mr. Walter Elliot Harris, age 64 of Meadows of Dan, Virginia passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Saturday, December 26, 2020.  He was born in Patrick County on September 27, 1956 to the late Benjamin Harris, Jr. and Mary Lawrence Harris.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wilburn Harris.  Walter was a member of Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder.  He was a lifetime truck driver and truly enjoyed his career out on the road.  He had a larger-than-life sense of humor and sharp wit.  He was truly devoted to his wife, loved his children, and adored being Papa to his grandbabies.

        Walter is survived by the love of his life, Patsy H. Harris of the home; four children, Phillip Bridges of Meadows of Dan, Ben Harris and wife, Rachael of Nashville, Tennessee, Pamela Arnold and husband, Jeremiah of Auburndale, Florida, and Angela Byrd and husband, Anson of Meadows of Dan; eight grandchildren, Nicole Bridges; Brooklyn Holt, Elliot Holt, Sam Byrd, Ethan Harris, George Byrd, Audrey Byrd, and Austin Harris; one sister, Virginia Thomas of Georgetown, Texas; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

        Walter’s celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 4:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Jeff Dalton officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends may come by the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm to pay their final respects.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
