Walter "Walt" Seba Leftwich

Mr. Walter “Walt” Seba Leftwich, Jr. 85, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin.  He was born in Surry County on October 22, 1937, to the late Walter Seba Leftwich, Sr. and Hallie Collins Leftwich.  Mr. Leftwich proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was known throughout the community as an old car enthusiast and enjoyed being a part of the Mayberry Cruisers Club.  Mr. Leftwich enjoyed the modern western square dance and participated as a caller for 45 years.  He was inducted into the North Carolina Square Dance Callers Hall of Fame in 2019.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Toole Leftwich; daughters and son-in-law, Tammy Leftwich, Joy Tolbert and Reed, Lydia Lindsay; sons, Walter Seba Leftwich, III, Kenneth “Mitch” Leftwich; grandchildren, Nicole Cain, Kelsey Williams and Justin, Kirstin Leonard and Dustin, Christopher Tolbert, Cassie Leftwich, Cody Leftwich; great grandchildren, Kylah Hembree, Aspen Leonard, Jagger Leftwich; sisters and brother-in-law, Connie Tolbert, Gloria Martin, Barbara Kingsbury and Tommy; a sister-in-law, Brenda Leftwich; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Leftwich was preceded in death by sister and brothers-in-law, Pernie Sechrist and Otis, Charles Tolbert; brothers and sister-in-law, Danny Leftwich and Daisy, Dale Leftwich.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday at Union Hill Friends with Mr. Charlie Newman officiating.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.  The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
