Wanda Rae Norman Loyd

Mrs. Wanda Rae Loyd, 67, of State Road, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 9, 1943, in Surry County, to the late Raymond and Bessie Norman. Mrs. Loyd was a homemaker and a devoted member of Charity Hill Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 50 years, Foy Lee Loyd of the home; her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Danny Henley of State Road; a cherished grandson, Jacob Henley; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Lonnie Swain of State Road; two special nieces, Judy Newman and Windy Childress; and her church family and Pastor Brian Cardwell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Loyd was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Ailene Norman and Dires Hayes; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Hayes and James Shores. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011, at 3:00 PM at Charity Hill Baptist Church, by Pastor Brian Cardwell, the Rev. Danny Henley, and the Rev. Claude Loyd. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 1:30 PM until the hour of the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 688 North Bridge Street Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative care for their loving kindness during this difficult time.
