Wanda Corder Molina, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8th at the SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin. Wanda was born on October 23rd 1948 in Surry County to John Arvil Corder and Lola Stanley Corder.
In addition to her parents, Mom was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Alexander Chappell.
Left behind to remember her forever are her husband, Dan Molina of the home; Sons Randy Chappell(Debby) of Elkin, John Chappell of Clemmons; Brother Bill Corder(Lisa) of Elkin and Sister Deborah Corder Garris of Elkin; 5 grandchildren. Matthew Chappell, Zachary Chappell, Emma Chappell, Olivia Chappell and JD Chappell; 2 great grandchildren. Kirstin Chappell and Rome Garcia.
Mom spent her entire career doing what she loved to do and that’s helping others. After graduating from Surry Central High School in 1967, she pursued a nursing career first obtaining her LPN license on November 25th, 1968. After working many years, she had one of her proudest moments. Mom went back to school while working full time and raising 2 boys and finally obtained her RN license on June 7th, 1989. Mom worked in many different settings in health care and touched so many lives. I never visited her at work without someone mentioning to me what a great nurse and person Mom was. She ended her career at Pruitt Health where she helped to care for her father. Had it not have been for her stroke, I’m convinced Mom would still be working today. Mom was a woman of many talents but one of her favorite things to do was arts and crafts. Mom was an avid painter and loved entering some of her artwork in local fairs and exhibits each year, winning multiple times. She loved her animals and loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!
Most important, Mom was a fighter and the toughest woman I know. In April of 2020, Mom suffered her first stroke. She was left without the use of the right side of her body. No more walking. No painting or arts and crafts. Even after this life changing event, Mom was still Mom. She was nurturing, caring and a nurse at heart.
Moms service will be Wednesday, October 11th at 2:00pm at Little Richmond Baptist Church in Elkin with Brother Jerry Pratt officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 10th from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Services in Dobson, NC.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and caregivers at SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin for providing Mom with outstanding and comforting care during her final weeks.
