Mrs. Wanda Lee Smith Vaughan, age 92 of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday morning, September 25, 2024, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Vaughan was born on May 13, 1932, in Alleghany County to the late Garnie Lee and Hazel Spurlin Smith. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Paula Vaughan Frazier and Wade; sons and daughter-in-law, Darryl Vaughan and Nita, Mark Vaughan; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Smith Whitaker and Ronnie, Gail Smith Parsons; sisters-in-law, Betty Smith, Clettie Smith; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vaughan was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Marshall Vaughan; a daughter, Lisa Vaughan Warf; a sister, Eleanor Smith Lundy; and two brothers, Dale Smith, Ray Smith. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevin Kilby officiating. A private interment at H.B. Spurlin Family Cemetery in Ennice, North Carolina. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
