Mr. Warren Ivan Badgett, 89, of Dobson, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home with his loving family by his bedside. He was born July 13, 1921, in Surry County, to the late Joseph and Mary Eads Badgett. Mr. Badgett was a retired farmer and attended Blues Grove Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 71 years, Ella Atkinson Badgett of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ted Tarlton of Gibsonville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Lynnette Badgett and Lonnie and Leesa Badgett, all of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Tracy Peeples and her husband, Jeff, of Mount Airy and Ruth Ann Badgett of Dobson; a great-granddaughter, Logan Renee Badgett; a brother, Seldon Badgett of Elkton, MD; a brother-in-law, Eugene Johnson of Mount Airy; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Badgett was preceded in death by three sisters, Inez and Mildred Johnson and Anna Branch; a brother, Floyd Badgett and his only grandson, Joseph Paul "Joe" Badgett. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, January 23, 2011, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with the Rev. Tony Holder and Billy Nations officiating. Burial will follow in the Blues Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 until the hour of the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Blues Grove Baptist Church, 3607 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030; Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
