Warren Douglas Hooker

Mr. Warren Douglas “Doug” Hooker, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away early Monday morning, May 23, 2022, at Atrium Health – Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Hooker was born April 13, 1952, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Warren G. and Florence Elizabeth Smith Hooker.  Doug was the owner and operator of Hooker Paving for 30 years and a member of Faith Baptist Church.  He never met a stranger and was known for his hard work, quick smile, and kind heart.  His work on earth is done, but it is only just beginning in his heavenly home.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dianne Gates Hooker of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Christie Robertson of Mount Airy and Luke and Lori Hooker of Lowgap; a granddaughter, Jayden Robertson of Mount Airy; three grandsons, Dustin Robertson and his fiancée, Tori Vandall, of Mount Airy, and Logan Hooker and Landon Hooker, both of Lowgap; a sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Bill Nygard of Hillsville, VA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bro. Paul and Nancy Hooker of Ridgeway, VA, and Tony and Leanda Hooker of Pilot Mountain; several nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Johnny Ardner of Mount Airy; and a special friend, Wanda Marion of Mount Airy.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Edwards, the Rev. Donnie Hooker, and Bro. Paul Hooker officiating.  Burial will follow in the Genesis Full Gospel Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 217 Faith Baptist Church Way, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
