Mr. Wayne Edward Arrington, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away early Saturday morning, September 25, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Arrington was born June 15, 1937, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late William Howard and Jennie Mae Sutphin Arrington. Wayne retired from Chappell Concrete after 27 years of service, and he later retired as a maintenance groundskeeper from Skyline Memory Gardens after 15 years of service. He was a member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dorothea and Larry Stone, Kathy Arrington, and Alice and Roger Thompson, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Teresa Arrington of Pilot Mountain; his grandchildren, Alisha and Matt Winesett, Casey and Mark Hiatt, Cody Arrington, Abby Thompson, Magen Thompson, and Isaiah Arrington; five great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia Shelton of Pilot Mountain, Faye Hutchens of Mount Airy, and Verona and Don Wright of Lowgap; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Wilma Goins of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Arrington was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Goins Arrington; and a sister, Jean Creed. There will be a graveside service Friday, October 1, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dr. David Sparks officiating. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
