Wayne Chandler

Mr. Wayne Chandler, age 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 11, 1937, in Surry County to the late Milton Marion Chandler and Jessie Marie Crissman Chandler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Poteat Chandler; his son, Ricky Chandler; sister, Hassie Marie Chandler Utt; brothers, Ralph Chandler, Jack Chandler, and Dennis Chandler.  He is survived by his sister, Donna Faye Chandler Beal; his special nephew, Jerry Utt and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Chandler was a painter and of the Baptist faith.  A graveside service with military rites will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Indian Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Casstevens and VFW Mount Airy 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436 officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion shown to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
