Wayne Ray Lawson, Sr.

Mr. Wayne Ray Lawson, Sr., 73, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at his home.  He was born in Surry County on October 5, 1948, to the late Lester and Jettie Sawyers Lawson.  Mr. Lawson was retired after 40 years as an automotive mechanic.  He proudly served our country during the Vietnam War.  He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Lawson, Elizabeth and Mitchell Sheaffer, Stephanie and Justin Buchholz; sons and daughter-in-law, Wayne Ray Lawson, Jr., Travis and Jessi Lawson; two grandchildren; five sisters, and one brother; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a grandchild; four brothers, and one sister.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating, and military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt.
