Wayne Leon McMillian

Mr. Wayne Leon McMillian age 75 of 125 McCormick Street, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Mary Dollyhigh McMillian passed away Thursday morning, June 14, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born June 11, 1932 in Surry County, NC to the late James and Lottie McCreary McMillian. Mr. McMillian was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army. He was retired from Centel/Sprint Telephone Company. He was a deacon and member of Woodland Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Dollyhigh McMillian of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Wayne and Jackie McMillian, Bartow, FL, Chris and Marilyn McMillian, Ararat, NC, four grandchildren, Sarah McMillian, Bartow, FL, Anna McMillian, Cody McMillian and Casey McMillian all of Ararat, NC, two sisters, Mary Eanes, and Rebecca McMillian both of Mt. Airy, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. McMillian was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia McNeil and two brothers, Frank and Woodrow McMillian. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Woodland Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Gray Kirkman and Rev. Jimmy Slate. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Post 2019, Mt. Airy and VFW Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 1:00 PM Saturday until time of the funeral service at Woodland Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 331 Highland Drive, Mt. Airy, NC. Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy is serving the McMillian family.
