Wayne "Skip" Peter Bowman

Mr. Wayne Peter “Skip” Bowman, age 71 of Stuart, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, at his home. He was born in Patrick County on May 7, 1950, to the late Hampton Bowman and Mattie Virginia Nunn Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angel Dawn Bowman, and a sister-in-law, Hilda Bowman. "Skip was a loving husband, great daddy and an amazing proud Papa with a big kind heart and an even bigger smile when he saw all his precious babies! He loved talking football with his college quarterback grandson Tbear and also loved talking wrestling and all sports with his sons and grandson. He was a patient and great coach teaching his famous knuckleball!He got so much joy, happiness and laughter from hugging, playing and tickling his adorable granddaughters with his Santa Claus beard and giving all his precious, beautiful grandbabies many kisses and big cuddly bear hugs! He enjoyed playing Santa for many years with his sweet grandbabies and his many nieces and nephews when they needed a reminder call from Santa! He got the most pure joy and happiness from loving, playing, hugging and spoiling his grandkids, kids and all his amazing, big precious family!! We all were his pride and joy in his big heart and his smile would light up the room for each one of us!! He greatly loved and adored his wonderful wife and he greatly loved and adored all of his sweet children, amazing grandchildren and his beautiful, precious great grandchildren. He bragged to everyone about his awesome family! He left a hole in our heartbroken hearts and our wonderful kind, loving, sweet, funny, caring Daddy and Teddy bear Papa will be sorely missed!" Skip never met a stranger and was a fantastic storyteller and joker. He was a history buff and an avid reader. He loved fishing, cars, Western’s, and spending time with his grandbabies. Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, Lorna Cruise Bowman of the home; three children, J.H. Bowman and wife, Crystal Tilley Bowman of Lawsonville, NC, Cathy and Jim Greer of Eden, NC, Brian Bowman of Stuart; three grandchildren, Tyler James Bowman and fiancé, Corinne, Jayden Thalli Bowman, Addison Pressley Bowman; two great grandchildren, Charlotte Alexandra Bowman, Elmer James “E.J” Bowman; and two brothers, Charles Bowman of Stuart and Clarence Bowman and wife, Joann of Lexington, NC.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to give a special thanks to Pam Wright, Team Nurse, Liberty Home Health, and Mountain Valley Hospice for the great care they gave to Skip.
