Wayne Morris Torry, 77, of Roaring Gap, NC, passed away on April 12, 2023, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Elisabeth (Lisa) Torry.

Born in Bossier City, LA, on March 21, 1946, he was the son of the late Herman Brooks Torry and Argyle Mayfield Torry.

Wayne served in the U.S. Army, processing photographs from Vietnam. After being discharged from the Army, he worked as a Cartographer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans, LA. Wayne also worked as a Computer Graphics Designer for several engineering firms in New Orleans designing offshore oil structures. He was a Structural Designer at Versabar, Inc. for 18 years, retiring in 2016.

Wayne spent many years traveling the world with his work including time in Africa, Kazakhstan and Abu Dhabi. He enjoyed sailing his custom-made sailboat, bicycling in Utah and Colorado, taking pictures (especially of his grandchildren), and golfing at Olde Beau. He was an avid camper and hiker who had a passion for near impossible trails and National Parks (Yellowstone was his favorite). He was also an aficionado of rock bands from the 60’s and 70’s.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 54 years; Elisabeth Dicks Torry of Roaring Gap, NC, his daughter; Justine Hopkins (Tim) of Todd, NC, his grandchildren; Caty Grace Neely, Emma Neely, Jane Neely, and Steele Neely, his brother; Bruce A. Torry (Claudia) of Youngsville, LA, his nieces Hilary and Kate Torry of Youngsville, LA, his nephews Robert Dicks of Austin, TX and Charles Dicks of Dallas, TX, and his beloved King Charles Spaniel; Roux.
