Mr. Weldon Jackson Campbell, Sr., age 86 of Mt. Airy passed away at Northern Hospital of Surry County following a brief struggle with cancer early Tuesday, March 03, 2009. He particularly appreciated the attentive and caring medical oversight from his son-in-law Dixon and daughter Harriette, vacationing and gourmet cooking with son-in-law Parker and daughter Marye, and, reminiscing about Hawaii, with a constant stream of Marine Corps memorabilia from his son Jack. He walked three miles daily until stricken with cancer in October 2008. Weldon was always an inspiration to his children and grandchildren and enjoyed their successes.
