Mr. Weldon Nathaniel Hodges, 70, of Lowgap, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Hodges was born March 3, 1940, in Surry County, to Blan Carr and Lillian Fern Hawks Hodges. He was a self-employed plumber and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Monica and Terril Spurlin of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steve and Candi Hodges of Mount Airy and Kenneth Hodges of Lowgap; seven grandchildren, Nathan Hodges and his wife, Ingrid, Stephen Hodges, Kayla Hodges, Shena Spurlin, Kara Hodges, Haley Spurlin, and Abigail Hodges; two great-grandchildren, JaeLyn Hodges and Nate Hodges; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alita and Glen Gunter and Linda and Gary Lowe, all of Lowgap; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Betty Hodges of Mount Airy, Dennis and Elaine Hodges of Taylorsville, and Mark and Mary Hodges of Lowgap. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Janis Lynn Dickson Hodges; and an infant son, Weldon Junior Hodges. The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
