Mr. Weldon Clifford “Cliff” Shockley, 90, of Mount Airy passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Mr. Shockley was born in Patrick County, VA, October 9, 1927 to the late Dortha Wallace Shockley and Lillie Valeria Weddle Shockley. Mr. Shockley owned and operated Shockley’s Body Shop in Mount Airy and was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He is survived by his daughter, Ava Upchurch Stroupe of Charlotte; grandchildren, Amanda Giddens and her husband, Ian of Fleming Island, FL, and Hannah Warner and her husband, Kevin of Charlotte, NC; two great grandsons, Easton Giddens, and Mason Berryhill; sisters in law, Edith Mills Brown of Mount Airy, and Betsy Mills McCraw of Mount Airy, NC In addition to his parents, Mr. Shockley was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Mills Shockley; and his daughter, Gina Shockley Limpert. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis “Bud” Cameron, and Rev. Tyler Hege officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 2591 Wards Gap Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
