Mr. Wesley Alvis Moore, 85, of 720 Sunset Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, January 23, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Moore was born September 17, 1925, in Surry County, son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Byrd Moore. Wesley retired from Mount Airy Furniture Company after 43 years of service and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mount Airy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillie Mae Money Moore of the home; two daughters, Anne Spencer of Mount Airy and Karol Moore of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Dennis E. and Lavonne Moore of Mount Airy; three grandchildren and their spouses, Holly and Brian Busick, Justin and Beth Moore, and Cory and Jessie Spencer, all of Mount Airy; four great-grandchildren, Courtney Busick, Clay Busick, Chase Moore, and Scott Moore, all of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, Alvin Moore and Calvin Moore; a sister, Ethel Mae Marshall; and three brothers, Raymond Moore, Rayfus Moore, and Jack Moore. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Fellowship Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris Benfield, the Rev. Eddie Honeycutt, and Pastor Dennis E. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church in Mount Airy. His body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 922 Banner Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Golden Living Center and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for their love and compassionate care of Mr. Moore during his illness.
