Wilbur Dean Wood

Mr. Wilbur “Dean” Wood, age 75, of Dobson, NC passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019, at his home.  He was born in Surry County on November 5, 1943, to the late Elmer Delmer Wood and the late Mary Ellen Hazelwood.  He was retired from Wayne Farms and a member of Anchored In Jesus Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Wood.  Surviving are his wife, Hazel Mildred Higgins Wood; daughter and son-in-law, Conchita and Wayne Atkins; a granddaughter and her husband Amanda and Sparky Hawks; great-granddaughter, Jenna Hawks; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda Jenkins, Judy and Phil Parker, Cathy and Nolan Bentley, Robin and Lee Payne, brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Vickie Wood; several nieces and nephews; special friend and neighbor, Tim Freeman.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2019, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.  The services will be officiated by Rev. Larry Stone and Dr. Daniel Merritt.  The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of his service.
