Wilhelmina McCormick

Mrs. Wilhelmina Gibbons McCormick, age 89, of Dobson, gained her heavenly treasures on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville, NC.  She was born on November 7, 1928 in Cades, SC to the late Bennie and Ethel Gibbons.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Hewitt, and her second husband, J. S. “Frank” McCormick.  She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers and a son-in-law, Paul Allen Cruise.  Left to cherish her memories are one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Brent Wall of Dobson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Lynn Hewitt, Bill and Sharon Hewitt, John and Cindy McCormick all of Dobson; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren with one on the way.  Also left to cherish her memories are her loving caregiver, Sandra Martin and a special pet, Princess.  She was a devoted member of Rockford Baptist Church.  She was also a dual member at Copeland and Pilot Mountain Order of Eastern Star.  Services will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 at Rockford Baptist Church.  Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 pm with the funeral beginning at 2:00 pm with Reverend Dennis Bledsoe, John McCormick, son and Reverend Billy McCormick, grandson.  Interment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with graveside rites by Copeland #22 Order of the Eastern Star. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank Dr. Kim Kensley and all the staff of Hospice for their love and compassionate care given to her and her family during her illness.
