William Herbert Badgett

Mr. William Herbert Badgett, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, March 27, 2020, at his home.  Mr. Badgett was born March 22, 1938, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Coy and Thelma Smith Badgett.  Herbert served our country in the United States Army in the late 1950s and early 1960s.  He was a self-employed builder and a member of Church of God International.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rachel Josephine Norman Badgett of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Doug Needham of Mocksville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Coby Badgett of Lambsburg, VA, and Jason and DeAnn Badgett of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Dylan Badgett, Damon Badgett, Joshua Badgett and his wife, Corletta, Justin Badgett, Brandon Sawyers and his wife, Johna, and Logan Needham; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Vernon of Mount Airy and Mary Ruth Johnson of Greensboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Loyda Badgett of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.  A memorial service will be held at a later date due to current public health concerns.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
