William Arthur Barnard

Mr. William Arthur Barnard, 82, of Kibler Valley, VA, passed away Monday morning, October 5, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry. Mr. Barnard was born December 23, 1926, in Patrick County, VA, to the late William and Elitha Agnes Clement Barnard. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, serving during World War WII, and was owner and operator of Barnard's General Store and Used Cars. Surviving are a sister, JoAnn Ayers of Claudville, VA; four nieces, Janice Hall, Ilene Epperson, Rose Ayers, and Sara Ayers; six great nephews; and two great nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnard was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Epperson; his wife, Mabel Towe Barnard; and his stepmother, Ruth Barnard. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 9, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at the Barnard Family Cemetery in Kibler Valley, with the Rev. James C. Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends at the home after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the CCDF Rescue Squad, Stuart, VA 24171, or to the Ararat Rescue Squad, Ararat, VA 24053.
