William Edgar Beasley

Mr. William “Hootie” Edgar Beasley, age 92 of Westfield, NC, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at the SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 13, 1932, in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Edgar Campbell Beasley and Annie Lou Shelor Beasley. He retired from RJ Reynolds after 30 years of dedicated service. Mr. Beasley was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was also a member of Brown Mountain Baptist Church. Mr. Beasley is survived by his loving wife of almost 66 years, Ruby Lene Holt Beasley; three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Patricia Beasley, Tim and Rita Beasley, and Keith and Kelly Beasley; five granddaughters, Jennifer and Robert Billings, Casey and Cory Bowman, Jessica and Johnson York, Kadee Beasley, and Maggie Beasley; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Slate and Shirley Hooker; and by several other family and friends. “Papa” loved all sports, Westerns on TV, fishing, hunting, and word search puzzles. He also enjoyed giving his great grandchildren a gold dollar coin each time he would see them. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by four sisters, Jessie Maye Beasley Cole, Pearl Marie Beasley Gordon, Mary Magdelene Beasley, and Emma Ruth Beasley; and by three brothers, James Emmett Beasley, Harry Lee Beasley, and Sam Junior Beasley. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 7, 2025, at 2:00pm at Brown Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Carter and Reverend Ricky Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 1:00 – 2:00pm. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville.
