William "Bill" Bennett

Mr. William “Bill” Charles Bennett, age 88, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born on September 15, 1934, in Surry County to the late Edward Lee and Lula Elizabeth Snoddy Bennett.  He was proud to be a member of the Flat Rock Ruritans.  For nearly 50 years he owned and operated Bill Bennett Painting and Contracting.  Left to cherish his memory are sons, Brian Bennett (Bobbie Hinton), Ed Bennett; daughter, Sheila Bunting (Chris); grandchildren, Brooke Crisp (Zach), Brett Bennett (Sam), Bradley Bennett (Anna), Gilleyn Bunting; great-grandchildren, Bo Bennett, Millie Bennett, Leo Crisp, Charlie Crisp.  In addition to his parents Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Gilley Bennett; sisters, Stella Johnson, Elma Parker, Irene Mannering, Evelyn Dickerson; brothers, Alva “Sonny”, Alfred, and Aldie Bennett .  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Dr. Jonnathan Casstevens.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home , 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC. 27017. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time for the service at the funeral home.
