William Cecil Chappell

Mr. William Cecil Chappell, age 86 of Cana, widower of Rachel Joyce Hall Chappell, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007 at Central Continuing Care. Mr. Chappell was born in Carroll County, March 17, 1921 to Frank and Lillie Mae Edwards Chappell. He was a retired Orchardist and was also a retired security Guard at Spencer's Inc. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Thomas, Brenda and Ray Chappell, Darlene and Billy Wilson all of Cana; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Sonny and Peggy Chappell of Cana, Randy and Rene Chappell of Mt. Airy and Jerry Chappell of Cana; a (special daughter) and caregiver Mary Lawrence of Cana, fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Jewel and Clifford Boyd of Ararat, VA. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Chappell was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Chappell; and brothers, Ed Chappell, Jan Chappell, Alan Chappell, and Jack Chappell and a son-in-law Kenneth Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Wards Gap Church, with services conducted by Bro James Quesinberry and Linda Thomas. The family will receive friends Sunday at Wards Gap Church from 1:30 PM until time for the service. Moody Funeral Services will be assisting the Chappell Family.
