William Grady "Buddy" Davis, Jr

Mr. William Grady "Buddy" Davis, Jr., 72, of Mount Airy, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 29, 2008. Mr. Davis was born July 8, 1935, in Haywood County, to the late William Grady Davis, Sr. and Louise Calhoun Davis. He served in the United States Marines from 1954 until 1958. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a devoted member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church and an avid and fisherman. Mr. Davis was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He played bass guitar and sang with the gospel group "New Haven" and also played bass guitar for his church. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Ruth Davis of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Vicki Young and Susan and Larry Harold, all of Mount Airy; two granddaughters, Amanda Young of Mount Airy and Amber Amburn of Knoxville, TN; a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Bob Everleth of Palatka, FL; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Ben and Rebecca Davis of Pueblo, CO. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Richard Loman, the Rev. Edwin Luther, and the Rev. Scott Howard. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Monday, March 3, 2008, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church.
