William Douglas "Doug" Easter

Mr. William Douglas “Doug” Easter, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.  He was born in Surry County on July 11, 1936, to the late Robert Zebedee and Mary Alice Edwards Easter.  He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army.  Mr. Easter retired from Westinghouse after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed his homestead, cattle, and horses.  He was a man of great faith.  Mr. Easter was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Agnes Eades Easter; a beloved grandson, William Jason Easter; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Easter; and a brother, Rudy Easter; many special nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Easter was preceded in death by a son, William Mark Easter; five brothers, Bobby, Donnell, Johnny, Terry, and Buddy Easter; a niece, Debbie Easter; a nephew, Ferrell Easter.  A graveside service will be held Monday, at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Jake Penley officiating.  Full military honors by VFW Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home.  The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Forsyth Medical Center, 2^nd floor, CCU and Surry County EMS for the care given to Mr. Easter during his illness.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Zion Cemetery Maintenance, 115 Six Acres Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
