William Henry Edmonds

Mr. William Henry "Doc" Edmonds, 75, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Mr. Edmonds was born November 19, 1933, in Surry County, to William Roy and Clearsie Hutson Edmonds. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Hauser Edmonds of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Frenda and Jeff Hicks of Ararat, Cindy and Timmy Dixon of Danville, VA, and Christy Edmonds of Welcome; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Janet Edmonds of Mount Airy, Ronald and Denise Edmonds of Pinnacle, and Carl Ray and Karen Edmonds of Danville, VA; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and Walter Bowers of Ivanhoe, VA, Mae Norman and Della and Bobby Odum, all of Mount Airy; brothers, Frank Edmonds and Ray Edmonds, both of Mount Airy; and a special nephew, Steven Odum. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edmonds was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Bryant; a sister, Ruth Faulkner; and brothers, Marvin Edmonds and Roy Edmonds, Jr. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ray Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home, and other times at his sister's home, 901 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy.
