William David Embry

Mr. William David Embry, 39, of Cana, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born December 28, 1974, in Culpeper County, VA, to Billy and Mary Sue Young Embry. William was employed at Nester Hosiery and attended Fancy Gap Baptist Church. William cherished his family and was a friend to all who knew him. He was an avid fisherman and was also a member of Fishers of Men and Bass Masters Classic. William is survived by his adored wife, Misty Rakes Embry; two precious daughters, Abigail, "#1" as referred to by dad, and Ali, "best friend;" his parents, Billy and Mary Sue Young Embry; a sister, Angie Embry; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dean and Dale Rakes; a brother-in-law, Ricky Rakes; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many special friends. William was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Ruth Embry and Ray and Opal Thomas Young; and a nephew, Ryan William Treppish. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 3, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Fancy Gap Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Misty Embry, 97 Garbraley Trail, Cana, VA 24317, to assist with the care of the children. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family. As William would say, "Fish on."
