William Eugene Rutherford passed away after a lengthy illness. He was born in Forsyth County, one of four children to the late William Vance and Dorothy Mae Duncan Rutherford on Aug 9,1962. Eugene was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was a faithful servant for many years. He was an autobody repairman and mechanic for most of his career as well as a small business owner. Eugene had a strong love for his family and all his friends. He is survived by his wife, Pam Dawson Rutherford, whom he started dating in high school; his much-loved daughter, Katrina and her husband, Shawn Gilley; his wonderful and precious grandchildren, Opal and Augustus “Gus” Gilley, all of whom he adored. Left behind also are his cherished sisters and their spouses, Theresa and Dwight Sechrist, Deloris and Kenneth Shumate, and Lesa and Ronald Sizemore. He also had several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, along with aunts, uncles, and a lot of special cousins. His step-mother and favorite cook, Phyllis Rutherford, also survives him. Eugene loved her cooking, never missing an opportunity to eat a meal she cooked. He had several Dirty-Bike-Rider "Brothers" and many special friends, including two lifelong friends, Craig Easter and Junior Puckett, who also survive him. Heaven's hills will be cut full of DotCom's technical goat lines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Roger Semones. A memorial service will be held at Oak Ridge Baptist Church on November 4, 2023, at 2:00 in the afternoon with Rev. David Sechrist, Rev. Dwight Sechrist, and Rev. Sam Holder officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary contributions be made to the Gideons, Post Office Box 97251, Washington, D.C. 20090-7251.
